Venous thromboembolism

Venous thromboembolism (VTE) consists of 2 conditions: 1

  • Deep vein thrombosis (DVT), is a blood clot in a vein, most often occur in the legs. It can cause pain and swelling in the leg.2
  • Pulmonary embolism (PE), is a blocked blood vessel in your lungs. It can be life-threatening if not treated quickly. 3
