2024 Understanding local biodiversity @ Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden
Hong Kong is a bustling urban hub and ranks as the 4th most densely populated place in the world, yet it boasts a remarkably rich biodiversity. Biodiversity involves the variety and variability of life on Earth.
In October 2024, Daiichi Sankyo Hong Kong (DSHK) is celebrating Well-Being month. On 25th October 2024, 36 colleagues had an incredible opportunity to visit Kardoorie Fam and Botanic Garden, tying in perfectly with World Environment Day on 10th October and Daiichi Sankyo Group Walking Campaign and Photo Contest.
The tour kicked off with a warm welcome from the knowledgeable staff at KFBG, who guided us through the eco-garden and vibrant farm areas. As we explored and had a chance to talk with animal keeper, we learned about the diverse native plants and animals and their vital role in local ecosystems. The guides shared fascinating insights on sustainable agricultural practices and the importance of preserving biodiversity.
A highlight of the visit was the opportunity for colleagues to bond in a beautiful outdoor setting. The shared experiences fostered a sense of community and collaboration, reminding everyone of the importance of teamwork in their sustainability efforts.
Looking back on this enriching experience, our colleagues are inspired to incorporate what they learned into their daily practices and take small steps towards sustainability, whether it’s reducing waste, conserving energy, or supporting local ecosystems.
